Sharon Stockdale is a former clothing designer, now a creative hobbyist with a day job. She writes poetry, sews, knits, crochets and needlepoints, always aiming to push her skills into unique creative endeavors. In addition to working with purchased fabrics and yarns, Sharon enjoys finding ways to recycle used materials into her projects, such as crocheting bags and baskets from plastic grocery bags. Starting in March of 2020, while everyone was trapped in their homes unable to purchase face masks, she pulled her sheets out of the linen closet and designed, sewed and shipped hundreds of washable cotton face masks to anyone who donated to keep food banks open. The first recipients were encouraged to give Sharon feedback so her pattern was continually improving, eventually including removable, washable, non-woven polypropylene linings Her latest project is designing her own needlepoint patterns based on vintage photographs. Sharon wants to introduce everyone to the idea that creativity is there in all of us and we can each enjoy expressing it, to whatever extent we can fit it into our lives.
